Privacy Policy

RUREE Ventures LLC ("we", "us", "our") built Edubba as a local-first application. This policy explains how we handle your information.

Data We Collect

We collect no personal data. Edubba stores all your content — notes, documents, embeddings, and chat history — locally on your Mac in an encrypted SQLCipher database. We have no servers, no accounts, and no analytics.

API Keys

Edubba lets you optionally configure your own OpenAI or Anthropic API key for AI chat features. Your API key is stored in the macOS Keychain on your device. When you use AI chat, your queries are sent directly from your device to the API provider under your own key. We never see, transmit, or store your API keys or queries.

Search & Embeddings

By default, Edubba generates text embeddings on-device using a local machine learning model. No data is sent externally for search. If the local model is unavailable and you have configured an API key, embeddings may be generated via your API provider.

Backups

If you enable backups, Edubba stores encrypted backup files in your personal Google Drive account. We do not have access to your Google Drive or your backup files. Authentication is handled directly between your device and Google.

Third-Party Services

Edubba connects to third-party services only when you explicitly configure them:

• OpenAI / Anthropic — for AI chat, using your own API key
• Google Drive — for backups, using your own Google account

Each provider's own privacy policy governs their handling of your data.

Children's Privacy

Edubba is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this URL.
